A Blaze

This is part of a series of contemporary oil landscape paintings inspired by a gorse fire I witnessed many years ago on Sherkin Island off the coast of West Cork. I have been working on these oil paintings for almost two years. It is an artistic examination into our interventions into the landscape through the lens of fire. As continuing global warming crises makes this image far too familiar, I want to draw attention to our participation and escalation in the climate precipise we now find ourselves.

I hope these unique works resonate with you on a personal level and that you find my use of colour and texture interesting as this body of work is very important to me and I continue to work on it.
