This is part of a series of paintings inspired by a gorse fire I witnessed many years ago on Sherkin Island off the coast of West Cork. I have been working on this body of work for almost two years. It is an examination into our interventions into the landscape through the lens of fire. A continuing global warming crises makes this image far too familiar, I want to draw attention to our participation and escalation in the climate precipise we now find ourselves.
